Content Knowledge:
Candidates demonstrate the knowledge necessary to create, use, assess, and manage theoretical and practical applications of educational technologies and processes.
1.1 Creating. Candidates demonstrate the ability to create instructional materials and learning environments using a variety of systems approach.
Throughout my coursework, I learned a plethora of different technological platforms and tools. I incorporated some of those different platforms and tools within my Multimedia eLearning Environment. For this artifact, I created a website where students independently navigate and work through a research extension unit. The unit's website is created in Google Sites. Embedded into the site are videos, images, maps, articles, and links to other useful sites through the tool Symbaloo. Also embedded into the site are YouTube videos, Google Forms, and a Padlet response board. Utilizing the different tools, platforms, and resources, students of different learning styles and needs are able to effectively access the learning.
1.2 Using. Candidates demonstrate the ability to select and use technological resources and processes to support student learning and to enhance their pedagogy.
An example of technological resources to support student learning and enhance their pedagogy can be seen in my Needs Assessment. This artifact explains the advantages of using an interactive whiteboard within K-12 classrooms. Research and real-world experience proved that interactive whiteboards help to motivate, engage, and promote student interest in their learning. Interactive whiteboards can further engage students with disabilities with the lessons and provide positive learning outcomes for them. Additionally, interactive whiteboards can help promote collaboration, a skill more and more important with the 21st century learners, in and out of the classroom.
1.3 Assessing/Evaluating. Candidates demonstrate the ability to assess and evaluate the effective integration of appropriate technologies and instructional materials.
The Curriculum Project was created for and implemented in a third grade classroom. This artifact demonstrates my abilities to assess and evaluate the integration of technologies and instructional materials through the reflections for each part of the project. Within the reflections, I noted the parts of the project that were completed, what went well and the students were able to respond/learn from, and what was adapted or should be changed. Anecdotal notes while observing the implementation, as well as student responses during instruction and on their assignments completed with this project provided the ability for the reflections, which assess and evaluate the technologies and materials.
1.4 Managing. Candidates demonstrate the ability to effectively manage people, processes, physical infrastructures, and financial resources to achieve predetermined goals.
The School Technology Plan demonstrates my abilities to effectively manage all aspects of a project in order to achieve predetermined goals. The artifact highlights the physical infrastructures and financial resources within the 'Technology Tools' section with itemizing the necessary technologies needed, as well as their financial obligations. The plan also highlights how those implementing the project will be managed and held accountable within the 'Management' section with the completion of the Google Forms for each part of the project. The process is explained within the Curriculum Project, as well as evidence to how students will demonstrate their learning to prove the predetermined goals were accomplished.
1.5 Ethics. Candidates demonstrate the contemporary professional ethics of the field as defined and developed by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology.
This e-portfolio exhibits a variety of resources for teachers to utilize to further their instruction with effective integration of educational technologies. The different performances aid in extending the users knowledge base of technology in education.
